Characters
A descendant of the Cromwell line, Victor has no idea what his family history holds beyond the bedtime stories his mother lulled him to sleep with as a kid. Something about his grandmother being arrested for being a false medium in the fifties, he doesn’t really know. What he does know is that he absolutely does not want to give up his friends and newly formed band in Boston, and move away to a tiny island no one besides his family has heard of. But unfortunately he’s sixteen and has to do as his parents say.
Alexis has a great destiny ahead of her, if only she can calm down and focus on learning how to grasp it. She’s been in training to take over as Coven Mother for the past year, and feels like she’s being held back due to her age. If Valerie would just teach her more magic, Alexis knows she could quickly solve all the issues on the island. This pride and overconfidence will lead her to try and solve a decades-old problem on her own, with only the Cromwell descendant who knows nothing on her side.
Unfortunately for the sweet and kind Bridgette, she’s been born into the Mortmore family. She’s constantly reminded by her uncle that as a woman and someone who has very little ties to the family magic, she’s nothing but a bargaining tool. And he goes on to prove that when the Cromwells return to the island to reclaim their ancestral home. Bridgette finds herself locked in a betrothal to a boy she doesn’t know and who doesn’t seem to know anything about their shared family history. Her best friend Alexis reassures her that there’s a way out of the arrangement, but Alexis has always been too confident in her plans. Will this one actually work?
